Horses have many purposes. Whether your horse is a working ranch horse, hunting partner, competition horse, pleasure horse, or pasture pet we can help keep them healthy and happy. Equine services are offered at our heated haul-in facility or at your home or ranch. Listed below is a summary of some of the services we offer.
Wellness:
Annual wellness exams and vaccinations are important for all horses. We will perform a thorough wellness exam and recommend the vaccinations and parasite control that your horse needs. All of our vaccines are veterinary quality and guaranteed by the manufacturer to be safe and efficacious.
Surgery:
We offer gelding and laceration repair at our haul-in facility or at your house.
Lameness Evaluation:
We can help diagnose and treat lameness issues to get that equine athlete back in the game or on the trail.
Equine Pre-purchase Exams:
Purchasing a new horse is a huge commitment. A veterinarian can help you determine if a specific horse is right for you and the horses intended use, prior to purchase.
Dental Exams and Float:
Sometimes horses’ teeth wear down abnormally, causing sores in the mouth, difficulty chewing and weight loss. In these cases, the teeth need to be leveled and balanced appropriately by a procedure called a dental float. We can examine your horse’s teeth and determine if a float is needed. We use a power float to quickly and effectively return your horse’s teeth to a proper balance.
Imaging:
Animal Health Center is equipped with portable x-ray and ultrasound to meet a variety of imaging needs. From joint evaluations to pregnancy detection, we can provide imaging to meet your needs.
Pain Management:
Managing pain is important for animal welfare and performance. We can help you determine the cause of your horse’s pain and provide pain management options such as NSAIDs, Adequan, or Legend.
Artificial Insemination:
Our veterinarians are experienced in equine reproductive management and artificial insemination with cooled shipped and fresh semen.
In-house and referral lab services:
Animal Health Center is equipped with a complete in-house laboratory capable of performing blood chemistries, complete blood counts, urinalyses, parasite screening, and others. We also utilize numerous referral laboratories to perform those tests we do not have available to us in-house.
